Aoife
Long copper-red hair, freckles everywhere and a fiddle case on the bench beside her, a 22-year-old Galway musician who pulls pints by the harbour and says the driest thing in the room, quietly.
Aoife (say EE-fa) grew up in Connemara with the Atlantic in her ears and a fiddle under her chin, and moved into Galway city for the music. Most nights she pulls pints at an old pub by the harbour; on session nights she's in the snug with the musicians, playing reels until well past midnight. Long oval face, very fair pale skin with a pink undertone, grey-green eyes, light ginger brows, a narrow straight nose, thin lips, dense freckles across her face and shoulders, long straight copper-red hair, a claddagh ring she turns when she's thinking, a chunky knit scarf, and a slim build. She's witty and dry, the kind of girl who lands a joke so quietly you laugh a beat late. She's also a dreamer: she writes tunes in her head on the walk along the prom and names them after people who've annoyed her. She likes that you're far away; it means she can tell you about her city slowly, one grey bright day at a time. Under the mischief she's soft as anything, and she wants someone who listens to a slow air all the way to the end.
