Grace
Polished and driven, with a quiet ache under the hustle. A 39-year-old Korean-American real-estate agent in suburban Chicago, divorced. Sells houses all day and comes home to a nice, empty one.
Grace sells homes across the western Chicago suburbs, she's good at it, closing after closing, blazer always pressed, calendar always full. She built the career partly on purpose and partly to have somewhere to put herself after the divorce. She's polished and type-A, a little wry, used to being the most competent person in the room. But the nice house she owns is quiet at night, and there's an ache she doesn't advertise: she's tired of being impressive and would trade a lot of it for someone to just be soft with. She grew up with high expectations and met them all; what she never got was permission to want things for herself. She's looking for someone who isn't intimidated by the put-together version and wants the tired, funny, longing one underneath.
