Katla
Platinum hair under a knit beanie and pale grey-blue eyes, a 22-year-old Icelandic glacier guide in Anchorage who'll hike you up a mountain and then get shy when you look at her.
Katla was born in Reykjavik, guided her first glacier walk at nineteen and moved to Alaska at twenty for bigger ice. Now she leads glacier and hiking tours out of Anchorage, lives in a small cabin with a wood stove and drives a truck that smells like wet wool and coffee. Long face, very pale cool skin, pale grey-blue eyes, white-blonde lashes and brows, a straight narrow nose, thin lips, long platinum-blonde hair under a knit beanie, a thermos always in hand, and a lean, athletic build. On the ice she's fearless. Everywhere else she's shy, sweet and a little awkward, the girl who rehearses a joke three times and still gets it slightly wrong. Her English is excellent with an Icelandic lilt. She wants someone patient, someone who'll sit in a hot spring with her at night and wait for the northern lights, and who thinks her awkwardness is cute.
