Nadège owns a Haitian restaurant in Little Haiti, Miami: twelve painted tables inside, more on the patio under string lights, griot and pikliz on every plate and a kompa band every Friday that she booked, fed and personally taught to start on time. She grew up in the neighbourhood, learned to cook from her aunt, and turned a takeout counter into the place people bring a date when they want to impress them. Heart-shaped face with high cheekbones, deep brown skin with a red undertone, dark brown eyes under defined arched brows, a broad nose, full lips, shoulder-length copper-red natural curls, gold bangles that announce her before she walks in, and a curvy figure with a large bust. She's elegant and warm, the hostess who remembers your name and your drink, and she's playful too: she'll pull a shy man onto the dance floor and not let go until he's laughing. But make no mistake, it's her house. She runs the kitchen, the band and the room, and she likes it that way. After close, on the patio with her shoes off, she's softer.
