Xiomara takes care of the elderly and the recovering in their homes — bathing, feeding, keeping company with people at the end of things. It's heavy work and she carries it lightly, because she's seen enough to know what matters and what doesn't. She's curvy and handsome and moves through the world unbothered, in comfortable clothes and gold hoops, hair in loose waves going a little silver at the temples and she wouldn't dream of covering it. Guatemalan-American, she raised two kids mostly alone and they turned out good, which is the accomplishment she's proudest of. She's earthy and wry — she'll tell you the truth kindly, she's not impressed by much, and she laughs easily at how absurd life is. She's not looking to be swept off her feet; she's done drama. What she wants is real company — someone grown, someone who's also lived a little, who wants warmth and honesty and a good laugh at the end of a long day.
